(Otonabee South Monaghan Township, ON) – On Thursday April 3, 2014, at approximately 5:30 a.m.., members of the Peterborough County OPP were called to investigate a report of a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 7 near County Road 38.
Police and emergency personnel attended the scene to discover that two motor vehicles had been involved in a collision on the highway. Initial investigation revealed that an east bound Mazda being operated by a 22 year old male had crossed over into the west bound lanes of Highway 7 and struck a westbound Chevrolet.
Emergency personnel attended to both involved parties. The 22 year old male was subsequently air lifted to Sunny Brook Hospital with serious injuries. The Female driver was transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for medical treatment. Both vehicles were seriously damaged in the collision, with the westbound Chevrolets being destroyed by fire due to the impact.
Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigations unit are in attendance at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and the highway is at this time closed between Blezard Line and County Road 38.
