(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Thursday June 25, 2015, around quarter to four in the afternoon, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a serious two vehicle collision on Perth Line 93 west of Road 146 (between Palmerston and Teviotdale).
Investigation indicated that a Chrysler minivan travelled south bound on Green Lane and approached Perth Line 93. The driver of the minivan waited at the stop sign for vehicles to pass on Perth Line 93 before attempting to proceed into a private driveway located across from Green Lane. The minivan driver failed to see an east bound Chrysler car. The vehicles collided resulting in major injuries to both drivers.
The driver of the minivan, Roy ATKINSON (81) of the Municipality of North Perth was transported to a local hospital and has since been transported to a Hamilton hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Chrysler car Sharon BOWDEN (63) was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The OPP Western Region Technical Traffic Investigation Unit attended the scene and is continuing to investigate the collision.
Road and weather conditions were ideal at the time of the collision.
Perth Line 93 from Road 146 to Line 92 was closed to traffic from the time of the collision until approximately 10 p.m. June 25, 2015.
