Serious Collision Sends Two To Hospital

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On March 9, 2016, at approximately 8:07 a.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Egremont Drive, west of Gold Creek Drive.

A red Dodge pickup truck, being operated by a 66-year-old male from Strathroy Caradoc, Ontario, was travelling eastbound on Egremont Drive. A black Chevrolet pickup truck, being operated by a 58-year-old female from Middlesex Centre, Ontario, was travelling westbound on Egremont Drive. For reasons yet to be determined, the Dodge pickup truck crossed the centre line, and the vehicles ended up colliding in the eastbound lane.

The male driver, and lone occupant of the red pickup truck, was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

The female driver of the black pickup truck had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Middlesex Centre Coldstream Fire Department. She was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. There were two dogs in her vehicle. One sustained life threatening injuries, and was transported by animal care to a local animal hospital.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are currently on scene assisting with the investigation. As a result, Egremont Drive, between Gold Creek Drive and Lamont Drive is closed. Motorists will have to find alternative routes.

This investigation is in its early stages. An update will be released when additional information becomes available.
