(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On March 3, 2016 at approximately 6:50 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a serious collision involving a single motor vehicle on Stone Road East and east of Watson Road, Guelph-Eramosa Township.
A male driving a pickup truck left the road and struck a hydro pole. He was taken by air ambulance to a Hamilton Hospital with serious injuries and was later pronounced deceased. His name will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
Guelph-Wellington Emergency Services (EMS), Guelph-Eramosa Fire Department, Hydro One and the Guelph-Eramosa Township Roads Department attended the scene.
The cause of the collision is currently being investigated by Technical Collision Investigators from the Wellington County OPP and West Region OPP Highway Safety Division. Stone Road remains closed between Watson Road and Jones Baseline.
