(MAPLETON TWP., ON) – On May 1, 2015 at approximately 5:30 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a report of a single motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Wellington County Road 8 east of Wellington County Road 9, in Mapleton Twp.
Officers responded along with the Mapleton Fire and Rescue.
Investigation revealed that a motorcycle travelling eastbound on Wellington Road 8 left the roadway entering the south ditch. The driver of the motorcycle was transported by Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
Members from the Wellington County OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team are attending the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Wellington Road 8 is expected to remain closed between Wellington Road 9 and Side Road 6 for approximately 4-5 hours.
