(SPRINGWATER, ON.) – On April 1st, 2015, members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received information that as a result of an escalated argument a 31 year old male had been threatened with what he believed to be an automatic firearm that was pointed at him.
As a result of this information members of the Huronia West OPP with the assistance of the OPP Tactical Rescue Unit (T.R.U.) executed a search warrant in the early morning hours of April 2nd at a residence on County Road #27 south of County Road #22. As a result of this search warrant OPP seized two replica black UZI MINI fully automatic BB guns and arrested a male.
A further Police investigation on this male revealed that he was in breach of a release condition from a previous conviction. Once this male was back at the Huronia West Detachment he became aggressive assaulting an OPP Officer and caused damage to the cell area he was in.
Charged with “Pointing a Firearm”, “Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose”, “Firearm – Use while committing offence”, “Uttering Threats to Cause Death”, “Mischief”, “Fail to Comply with Probation Order”, “Obstruct Peace Officer” and 2 counts of “Assault with a Weapon” is a 30 year old male from Springwater Twp. First appearance was on April 2nd, 2015 in Barrie court.
