(ELORA, ON) Members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to search for 15-year-old Bryce Douglas HOGG who went missing while tubing in the Elora Gorge on Wednesday night, July 10, 2013.
The OPP, assisted by OPP Air Services Unit, the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit, Canine, the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue, supported by the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) continue to search the Grand River today in the hope of reuniting the family with the victim.
Police and GRCA authorities are reminding everyone that there is no tubing in the Elora Gorge today, or until the water has receded to safe levels. Tubing has been prohibited in the Gorge for some time now due to elevated water levels, making tubing extremely dangerous.
The OPP remind everyone that fast running water is no place for recreational activity. There are many dangers associated with fast running water, some visible and some hidden below the surface of the water that make this activity unsafe.
