Screams For Help Lead To Rescue – Two Treated For Hypothermia

(Selwyn Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist two men who were stranded on Buckhorn Lake last night just before 11:30pm.

Two Peterborough area men were attempting to move numerous docks across the lake. While towing the docks with a small boat, the vessel capsized sending one of the males into the icy water. The men screamed for help, which ultimately triggered the rescue efforts.

The victims were located by a Selwyn Fire Service vessel and brought to an awaiting ambulance. The men were transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre and were treated for hypothermia.
