(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Saturday, January 3, 2015 at approximately 1:14 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check at the intersection of Grey Rd. 2 and 8th Concession A, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands, at which time a 2006 Hummer Sport Utility Vehicle was stopped.
The driver of the vehicle had been drinking alcohol. After failing a road side breath test, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and taken to an OPP Detachment for further breath tests.
Scott W. HAMILL, 41, of the Municipality of Grey Highlands, was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80mg alcohol/100mL blood, contrary to the Criminal Code. He was also charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with an Open Container of Alcohol, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, January 22, 2015.
The vehicle was impounded for seven days.
