Scooter Stop Results In Drug Seizure

(PETROLIA, ON) –On Thursday July 23, 2015, at approximately 7:40 p.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Nauvoo Road, Brooke-Alvinston Township for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

Lambton OPP stopped a male party operating a scooter on Nauvoo Road, Brooke-Alvinston Township. During the traffic stop, officers suspected that the driver of the scooter had been consuming alcoholic beverages just prior to operating the scooter. A roadside breath demand was made to which the driver of the scooter complied. During the investigation, OPP also discovered a large quantity of suspected Cannabis Marihuana in the driver’s possession which was weighed to be approximately 466.5 grams.

24-year-old Derek Marie CAIL of St. Clair Township, ON was issued a 3-Day Drivers Licence Suspension and further charged with:

Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – Over 30 grams

The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday September 9, 2015.
