(M’CHIGEENG FIRST NATION, ON) – At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and members of the United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Police (UCCM) responded to a three vehicle collision on Highway 551, at the M’Chigeeng First Nation. The collision involved a school bus carrying students, an automobile, and a dump truck. The collision resulted in minor injuries to the driver of the automobile. That driver was transported to hospital. No students were injured.
As a result of the collision investigation, Jonathan Newman MOSS, 22 years old of the Township of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands, Ontario has been charged with careless driving, contrary to section 130 the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario, and drive a commercial vehicle – improper licence, contrary to section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
