(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment investigated after a two vehicle collision involving a school bus that occurred on Highway 3 near Bird Road in Dunnville, Haldimand County, Ontario.
On Wednesday January 11, 2017 at 7:13 a.m., OPP responded for a two vehicle collision where it was reported that one of the vehicles involved was a school bus boarded with students.
OPP investigation has determined that a blue Dodge Ram pickup truck was travelling west bound on Highway 3 near Bird Road when it slid on the icy roadway and collided with the side of a school bus that was travelling east bound on Highway 3. The pickup truck continued and struck two parked vehicles at a business on Highway 3 before coming to a stop.
None of the students or the bus driver were injured as a result of the collision.
The 19-year-old female driver of the pickup truck attended a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
OPP responded to multiple calls for collisions the morning of January 11, 2017 most of which were single vehicles that slid off the roadway.
OPP is reminding all motorists to plan ahead, slow down and drive according to weather and road conditions.
