(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County detachment has charged a 26 year old male after investigating a motor vehicle collision at a Highway (Hwy) #3 East, Cayuga, Haldimand County, ON address.
On Thursday April 02nd, 2015 at approximately 8:20 am Police were called to the Hwy #3 address to investigate a school bus and van collision.
Investigation revealed that the First Student Bus Line school bus being driven by 53 year old Holly WOOLEY of Haldimand County, ON was travelling west bound on Hwy #3 east of Cayuga when she was stopping with overhead stoplights and stop sign activated to pick up students when the bus was sideswiped by a west bound van.
The van described as a white Mercedes contractors van was travelling west bound when it passed the school bus in the east bound lane striking the side of the bus.
No injuries were sustained to the drivers or the 30 student passengers.
As a result of the investigation the van driver 26 year old Justin WEIKMAN of Haldimand County, ON was charged with Failing to stop for a School Bus under the Highway Traffic Act. A Provincial Offence notice was issued which carries an out of court penalty of $400.00 dollars.
