(CALEDON, ON) – On April 24, 2014 shortly before 1 am, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol in the area of Old King Road in the Village of Bolton. The officers observed a northbound vehicle travelling at a very low rate of speed and the vehicle’s headlights were not turned on. Once the driver noticed the marked police cruiser, the vehicle sped up and turned on the headlights. Subsequently, the officers conducted a vehicle stop to check on the driver.
The officers verified the licence plate information and confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Toronto Police Service. Subsequently, the driver was arrested and transported to Detachment.
In conclusion, Samuel Astley GRANT, 42, of Brampton was arrested and charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
The male was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on May 22nd, 2014.
