(BARRIE, ON) – On Tuesday August 23, 2016 at approximately 11:03 PM, an Officer for the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general traffic enforcement on Highway 11 Southbound south of Old Barrie Road in Oro-Medonte Township when he observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. It was determined that the White Volkswagon Jetta was travelling at 162km/hr in a posted 90 km/hr zone. Subsequently, the officer conducted a vehicle stop.
As a result of the traffic stop, Samantha Mackenzie, 26, of Barrie was arrested and charged with Stunt Driving.
The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the drivers licence was suspended for seven days as a result of the stunt driving charge.
The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie at a later date.
