This past weekend, the Chatham-Kent Police Service Marine unit patrolled the Sydenham River and Chanel Ecarte during WAMBO.
There were no major incidents to report on the water. A number of boats were stopped for speeding at which time safety inspections were completed. Officers were pleased during inspections to find boaters had all their required safety equipment on board.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind all boaters who are operating a vessel that when stopped by law enforcement personnel you are required to provide your PCOC (pleasure craft operators card), a form of photo ID, and the vessel registration form.
If you would like more information regarding what you are required to carry on your vessel contact Transport Canada through www.boatingsafety.gc.ca
