On November 5, 2013 at approximately 2:25 a.m., the Guelph Police Service arrested an adult male without incident in the downtown area for public intoxication. At the police station the male complained about a leg injury. The Guelph Wellington Emergency Services attended and transported the male to the GGH. There it was learned that the male was suffering from a serious leg injury. As required the Guelph Police Service notified the Ontario Special Investigations Unit which invoked their mandate. The Guelph Police as always will cooperate with the SIU in their investigation. Also as directed by legislation the Guelph Police Service will not comment further on the matter until the SIU concludes it investigation.
