Ryan TUCKER – Fail To Stop For Police

(HALIBURTON, ON) – On April 26, 2014 at approximately 9:30pm, officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were involved in a Suspect Apprehension Pursuit (SAP) that began when a driver was travelling eastbound on County Road 503 failed to stop for police.

The officer was operating the Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) police vehicle. The ALPR identifies suspended/unlicensed drivers, stolen vehicles, wanted registered owners, unlicensed drivers and expired/stolen plates.

The ALPR detected unattached plates on a red Volkswagen Golf travelling on County Road 503 near Shepstone Lane. The officer activated the emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle however driver made no attempt to stop. The driver continued on County Road 503 and turned left on White Boundary Road where the vehicle was eventually stopped.

As a result of the investigation 25 year old Ryan TUCKER of Trent Lakes, ON has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

· Fail to Stop for Police Section 216

· Use Plate not Authorized for vehicle Section 12(1)(d)

· Operate unsafe vehicle Section 84

The male is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Minden on June 4, 2015.
