(CENTRE WELLINGON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On December 6, 2015 at approximately 9:51 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Wellington Road 7 near South Street in Centre Wellington Township.
Officers spoke with the male driver of a 2004 Ford that entered into the spot check and immediately detected the odour of alcohol on his breath. An Approved Roadside Screening Device (ASD) test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
34-year-old Ryan MCDONALD of Mapleton Township has been charged with Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on December 18, 2015 to answer to the charge.
