(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 38-year-old male with drinking and driving offences after investigating a traffic complaint at a Haldimand Highway 54, Haldimand County, Ontario address.
On Saturday March 18, 2017 at 8:30 p.m., OPP responded to Haldimand Highway 54 for a traffic complaint.
OPP located the vehicle and investigated.
While officers spoke with the male driver they detected signs of impairment by alcohol.
The male was subsequently arrested.
OPP has charged 38-year-old Ryan HAYTON of Brant County, Ontario with impaired driving and driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.
The vehicle was impounded for seven (7) days and the driver was served an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension.
He is to appear in Provincial Court Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
If convicted, offenders are subject to penalties under the Criminal Code of Canada including a fine or jail time as well as a driving prohibition.
