Russell County Weekly Report

(Embrun, ON) During the early hours of 22 November 2014, a 20 year old male was arrested and charged with a possession of marihuana and breach of a court order.

(Casselman, ON) On 24 November 2014, Russell County OPP officers responded to a Casselman residence where it was alleged that an adult male had physically assaulted another adult male. Upon police arrival the accused fled the scene but was later apprehended and held in custody to await a bail hearing. The victim did not sustain serious injuries.

(Rockland, ON) On 24 November 2014, Detectives of the Russell County Crime Unit completed a two month sexual assault investigation culminating in the arrest of an adult male. It was alleged that the adult male had sexually assaulted a young female, known to the accused, over a one year period. The identity of the accused cannot be released for the protection of the victim.

(Embrun, ON) on 01 December 2014, Russell County OPP commenced a criminal investigation in to the theft of four wheels and a tailgate from a new 2014 Ford F-150, parked in the South West corner of Embrun Ford. It is believed that the culprit(s) had entered the locked lot between 4:00 pm, Saturday 29 Nov 2014 and 0600 am, 01 Dec 2014. (Embrun, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police would like to remind the motoring public of the dangers of drinking and driving and that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. Officers are continuing in their efforts during the Festive RIDE Campaign. This past week a 32 year old woman from Rockland was arrested and charged criminally with operating a motor vehicle over the legal limit.

The OPP the public to report crime and impaired driving should be treated no differently. If you suspect that someone is driving or about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1. If you see that someone is impaired by alcohol or other drugs and intends on driving, strongly discourage them and call 9-1-1 if they insist.
