(Rockland, ON) – On the 9th of March 2014 at 5:49 AM, Russell County OPP attended the scene of a fire at 2925 Laurier Street, Unit 304, Rockland, Ontario. Upon arrival, officers located the body of a male at the scene of the fire.
The deceased was identified as Paul-Emile Simard, 82 years old. The victim is a resident of the condominium where the fire occurred. The deceased spouse suffered minor injuries related to the fire. She was transported to hospital for treatment.
The Office of the Fire Marshall and OPP are investigating to determine the origin of the fire. The fire is not believed to be of criminal nature.
The other units in the condominium complex are undamaged. The residents of the neighbouring units have regained access to their residence.
