(EMBRUN, ON) – The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several incidents after responding to 449 calls for service from Sunday November 13th to Saturday November 26th.  Among these occurrences, OPP responded to nine domestic disputes, two threat offences, three mischief offences and two impaired related occurrences. As a result of those occurrences, six males and two females were charged with 23 various offences. 

Neighbour Disputes

On November 16th, Provincial Constable William Flint was called to investigate a neighbour incident. As a result of the investigation, Melanie Beauchamp, aged 33 of Rockland, was charged with assault, mischief, uttering threats and fail to comply with her probation order. She was held for bail court on November 17th and later release by the Judge. She is set to return to court on December 14th, 2016.

Impaired Driver

At approximately 9:00 pm on Saturday, November 23, 2016, OPP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on County Road 17 east of Rockland. Provincial Constable Shaun Campbell attended the scene and her investigation revealed that the female driver was intoxicated. Genevieve Blaney, aged 42 of Bourget was arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs of alcohol. Her damaged vehicle was impounded for 7 days. She was released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal on December 14th 2016.

Friday, November 25th, Russell County officers were conducting at R.I.D.E initiative on Principale St in the Village of St-Albert. The officer formed the grounds to request the male driver to provide a sample of his breath into the roadside alcohol screening device. Rik Vancaemelbeke, aged 51, of North Dundas, refused to provide a sample of his breath. The driver was arrested, charged and released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal on December 21st.
