(SUDBURY, ON)- On December 2, 2016, members of the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) established a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) initiative on Highway 17, in the City of Greater Sudbury.
At approximately 11:39 a.m., officers had occasion to check a vehicle occupied by a male who stopped at the R.I.D.E. program. It was found the vehicle was being operated with an expired validation sticker and the male driver a suspended driver.
The driver, Roderick HANNON, 52 years of age from Chelmsford, was arrested and charged with the following:
Use plate not authorized for vehicle, contrary to section 12(1)(d) of the Highway Traffic Act
Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner, contrary to section 11(2) of the Highway Traffic Act
Driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
Operate motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on February 2, 2017, to answer to his charges.
