(SUDBURY, ON)- On November 7, 2016, at approximately 9:15 p.m., members of the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle being operated erratically on Highway 17, in the City of Greater Sudbury.
Police were able to locate and stop the vehicle on Long Lake road. As a result of the investigation, Robert NORRIS, 51 years of age, from Little Current, was arrested and charged with the following:
– Driving while impaired – motor vehicle, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
– Driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
The accused driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven (7) days
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on December 7, 2016 to answer to his charges.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
