(HOWICK, ON) On Monday, November 28, 2011 at approximately 12:30 a.m., a Huron County OPP officer stopped a pickup truck on Huron-Bruce Road in Howick Township that resulted in several charges against the driver.
A driver’s licence check revealed the driver was currently prohibited. The male was promptly arrested and a search incident to arrest determined the driver was also in possession of a stolen green 2000 Bombardier All Terrain Vehicle. Further checks revealed the driver’s pickup truck was not insured and the licence plates were not authorized for the truck.
As a result, Robert GROTENHUIS aged 43 from Clifford, ON has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada, Operation while Disqualified contrary to section 259(4)(a) Criminal Code of Canada, Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle contrary to section 12(1)(d) Highway Traffic Act and Owner Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance contrary to section 2(1)(a) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The pickup truck has been impounded for 45 days as per statute. GROTENHUIS is currently in police custody with a court date to be determined. LP11336604
