(WEST NIPISSING, ON.) – On July 6, 2015 at approximately 9:22 am, the Noelville and Warren Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 17 near Gauthier Rd, in the Municipality of West Nipissing.
A transport hauling logs was traveling westbound on Highway 17 near Gauthier Rd. The transport swerved to miss a stopped vehicle within the westbound lane, overturned, spilling its load onto the highway. The highway was closed for a short period of time.
The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and has since been released. Alcohol, road, and environmental conditions were not a factor in this collision.
As a result of the investigation, Robert DEGEER, 52 years of age from Mattawa was charged with Careless Driving contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
