ROBBERY UNDER INVESTIGATION

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On July 11, 2014 at 12:44 am officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an emergency robbery alarm at a local gas station located at the 500 block of Kings Highway in Fort Frances, ON.

Investigation revealed that a heavy set Caucasian male, approximately 5’8” tall, entered the gas station wearing a hooded black sweater, ball cap, dark blue jeans and a neck warmer used to conceal his face. The male brandished a knife and demanded money from the clerk. After receiving cash from the register, the male fled eastbound on foot.

Local detachment members are continuing to investigate the incident with the assistance of the Fort Frances OPP Crime Unit, OPP North West Region Canine Unit and OPP North West Region Forensic Identification Unit.
