(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 25, 2016 at approximately 12:20 a.m., an officer with the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) was patrolling Highway 7 near the Woolwich-Guelph Town Line, Guelph-Eramosa Township and pulled in the rest area.
The officer observed a taxi along with a man standing outside the vehicle drinking a beer. When noticed by Police, he got back in to the passenger seat of the cab. During the investigation, he provided a false name and was not following a condition of a court order. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre.
46-year-old Roane CHAMBERS of Kitchener is charged with;
Fail to comply with recognizance-Criminal Code (C.C.)
Obstruct police-C.C.
Personation with intent to avoid arrest-C.C.
Consuming liquor in other than licenced premise-Liquor Licence Act
He appeared in Guelph Bail Court on June 27, 2016.
