(WALKERTON, ON) – Heavy rainfall has contributed to the Saugeen River cresting its banks and flooding streets in the town of Walkerton. The affected streets are:
Colborne Street North
Catherine Street
Jackson Street North and Hartley House parking lot
Peter Street
Yonge Street North
Detour signs are in place to keep traffic off Yonge Street North. Motorists are asked to respect the closure and avoid the affected roads. Even shallow water will affect traction and could cause you to lose control of your vehicle.
Parents and caregivers are asked to keep children away from the riverbanks.
The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or send a web-tip to crimestop-gb.org, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
