Riley HANNAH – Drunk Driving, Drugs, Hit and Run, etc.

(NORTH BAY, ON) – At approximately 12:26 a.m. on May 26, 2018, officers from the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint about a possible impaired driver travelling northbound on Highway 11 in the City of North Bay, Ontario.

Before police could arrive, the vehicle drove off the road into the ditch. The driver then fled the scene on foot.

A short time later, the driver was located by officers from North Bay Police Service and subsequently arrested for impaired driving.

After police investigation, Riley HANNAH, age 21, of the Municipality of Magnetawan, Ontario, was charged with the following offences:

Driving while ability impaired contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);

Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the CC;

Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) of the CC;

Possession of a Schedule II substance under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA);

Possession of Schedule III substance contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA;

Failure to report accident contrary to section 199(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA);

Fail to apply for permanently becoming an owner contrary to section 11(2) of the HTA;

Own or operate motor vehicle on a highway no insurance contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA); and

Young driver B.A.C. above zero contrary to section 44.1(5) of the HTA.

The driver was released on a Promise to Appear and Part III Summons with a date to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario, on June 12, 2018.

The accused was issued a 90 day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
