(HALIBURTON, ON) – On December 7, 2014 members of the Haliburton Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) established a RIDE check program on Gelert Road in Minden Hills Township that resulted in one male driver being charged.
When the vehicle entered the RIDE program an officer determined that the driver was not wearing his seatbelt. As a result of the investigation Wilhelm SITSER, 52 years old, of Eldon Township was charged with the following:
Fail to properly wear seatbelt- section 106(2) of the Highway Traffic Act
Driving while disqualified- section 259(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada
SITSER is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on January 07, 2015 to answer to the charges.
On December 8, 2014 members of the Haliburton Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) established a RIDE check program at the intersection of Highway 118 and County Road 35 in Minden Hills Township that resulted in one male driver being charged.
When the vehicle entered the RIDE program an officer observed expired licence plates . A check on the male driver indicated he was in breach of conditions imposed from previous incidents. As a result of the investigation, Daniel COOK, 50 years old, of Peterborough County was charged with the following:
Driving while under suspension- section 53(1.1) of the Highway Traffic Act
Driving while disqualified- section 259(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Fail to Comply with Probation Order- section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Fail to Comply with Recognizance- section 145(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada
COOK was held for a bail hearing today (December 09, 2014) in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay, ON
The Haliburton Highlands OPP officers are in full force during the Festive R.I.D.E. campaign running from November 24, 2014 until January 2, 2015 and that R.I.D.E. stops can be conducted at anytime and anywhere in Haliburton County.
