Occurrence #: BA140-057642
Date: Friday, October 24, 2014 – 10:00pm
The Barrie Police Traffic Unit and Uniform Patrols Division partnered to conduct a R.I.D.E. detail in the City of Barrie. Shortly after setting up, spot-check officers located and suspended a driver for blowing a “Warn†range on a roadside screening device. As the night unfolded three separate drivers were arrested for Driving with Over 80 Mgs of alcohol in their system well before 1:00am. A total of 220 cars were stopped during the R.I.D.E. program.
The result though not surprising, are very disappointing for the Traffic Unit. After all of the education and messages relating to impaired driving, some people still choose to make the wrong decision. Driving impaired will almost certainly lead to tragedy, whether it be yours or an innocent person that will be affected by poor choices. The Barrie Police Traffic Unit ask drivers to make the right choice, don’t get into a vehicle if you have consumed any alcohol. Take a taxi, designated driver service, public transit, or arrange for a designated driver.
The Barrie Police Traffic Unit remains committed to road and pedestrian safety
