RIDE Leads To Charges

(SUDBURY, ON)- On December 3, 2016, members of the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) established a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) initiative on Highway 17, in the City of Greater Sudbury.

Officers had occasion to check a vehicle occupied by a male driver and a female passenger who stopped at the roadblock.

Officers noted the evidence of open liquor inside the interior of the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, police located and seized a quantity of drugs and liquor inside the passenger car.

The female passenger, Jenny ANDERSON, 39 years of age, from Sudbury, was arrested and charged with: Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The male driver, Loren PARFITT, 55 years of age, from Sudbury, was charged with: Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act.

The female accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on February 15, 2017.
