Members of the Barrie Police Service conducted a Festive RIDE Detail during the evening of Saturday the 28th of December 2013. Several locations in the City were monitored and as a result 510 vehicles were stopped. 25 roadside breath tests were administered, 3 drivers were arrested and charged with driving over 80mgs, 3 ninety day suspensions were issued. 1 three day suspension (roadside warn) and 2 twenty four hour suspensions were issued for drivers under 22 years of age consuming alcohol. The results of this detail were disappointing and again the Barrie Police are reminding drivers if you drink don’t drive. Arrange for a designated driver, use public transit or take a taxi. Impaired driviing can cause the loss of life or serious injury.
