(POWASSAN, ON) – On September 1, 2016, at approximately 12:45 a.m., an officer of the Powassan Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol on Lindquist Line, Powassan, when she initiated a traffic stop of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
During the traffic stop, it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. As a result of the investigation, Richard BUCKLEY, age 44 of Powassan, was arrested and charged with Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario, on September 13, 2016.
The OPP are reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
