Resident Run Down In Violent Home Invasion – Suspects At Large

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a break and enter with violence at a Main Street, Waterford, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Thursday, May 5, 2016 at approximately 12:24 a.m., police responded to the address after unknown males attended and gained entry in an unlocked residence.

Investigation determined that the homeowner was asleep in their bed when they woke to find four (4) unknowns males in the residence. The suspects began to remove items from the home while brandishing weapons. All of the males then fled from the residence north bound on Main Street dropping some of the items.

The homeowner proceeded to run after the males who fled to a motor vehicle that was parked in a parking lot on Alice Street behind a business. The victim attempted to retrieve the other items that were taken however was assaulted by one of the males in the vehicle. The driver of the motor vehicle accelerated and subsequently struck the victim. The vehicle was last seen fleeing northbound on Main Street.

The victim suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported by paramedics to a local area hospital for further treatment.

The first suspect was described to police as non-white, light skinned male, long curly black hair (chin length), wearing a flat brimmed baseball hat, white sweater with a white bandanna covering his face.

The second suspect is described as non- white, light skinned male, black shirt, black pants and also used a black coloured bandanna to cover his face.

No description was provided for the third and fourth suspect or the driver of the motor vehicle.

The vehicle was described to police as a four door, bright blue coloured Honda Civic with round rear tail lights. The vehicle appeared to be unique due to the customized modifications.

The Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit is continuing to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
