REPORT OF EXPLOSIVE DEVICE UNSUBSTANTIATED

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – The Crime Units of the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton Highlands Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating several incidents involving 911 calls pertaining to explosive devices or weapons related calls.

Between August 03, 2013 and May 16, 2014 the OPP had responded to six separate 911 calls in which an unknown male contacted police, via 911, regarding explosive devices or weapons calls throughout various locations in Haliburton County.

On August 19, 2014 an unknown male contacted police, via 911, stating that there was an explosive device located in a business establishment in the Fenelon Falls area.

To date, all calls have been unfounded and have utilized significant police resources in their response and investigations.

The OPP is requesting the public’s assistance and asking that anyone with information pertaining to any of these incidents, contact the OPP.
