(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On Wednesday July 8 2015 at approximately 9:45pm members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) executed a search warrant on a vehicle. The Officers were assisted by the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Quinte West Detachment as they stopped the vehicle on Highway 401 in the City of Quinte West.
A semi-automatic rifle, high capacity magazine, and ammunition were located in the vehicle.
Three adult males and a young person were arrested at the scene.
Byron SCHALLOCK 37 of Trenton, Dante FRIVALT 19 of No Fixed Address, and Shaquille MITCHELL, 20 of Scarborough were arrested. They are charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm while prohibited. FRIVALT and MITCHELL were additionally charged with two counts of Failing to comply with a Probation Order.
The young person, a 17 year old male from Ajax was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited, and two counts of failing to comply with probation. He will not be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
SCHALLOCK was released and has a court date in August 2015.
FRIVALT, MITCHELL, and the young person were held in custody pending a bail hearing on the 9th July 2015.
