(LONDON, ON) – Members of the Middlesex Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Wellington Road at 6:38 p.m. on Saturday night following a reported driving complaint.
Police observed the vehicle and stopped it. The officer formed ground for a roadside screening test when the driver fled from police and rolled his car a short distance later.
The OPP contacted the Ontario’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and they invoked their mandate.
Though police cannot comment on any aspects of the SIU investigation, OPP have concluded their criminal investigation into the matter.
Police have charged 40-year-old Scott Matthew RENAUD from Coronation Drive in London Ontario with;
Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle – 253(1)(a) Criminal Code
Fail or Refuse to Provide a Sample – 354(5) Criminal Code
Flight While Pursued by a Police Officer – 249.1(1) Criminal Code
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle – 249(1)(a) Criminal Code
Fail to Comply with Probation Order – 733.1(1) Criminal Code
The accused was remanded into custody during a video hearing today.
