Repeat Offender Arrested In Goderich After Threat

(GODERICH & CENTRAL HURON) – A 47-year-old from Central Huron is facing four criminal charges following an incident that took place earlier this week. Shortly before 6:00 p.m. on February 20, 2016 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call from a motorist that reported while he was driving southbound on Huron Road in Goderich he observed a passenger of a nearby vehicle threaten him with a knife. The victim was able to get a description of both the suspect and the suspect vehicle. Officers responded to the area to investigate and were able to locate the suspect vehicle parked at a shopping plaza located just east of Goderich.

Officers located both the driver and the passenger from the suspect vehicle. Both were placed under investigative detention and a search for weapons was conducted. Officers subsequently found the passenger to be carrying a knife and a quantity of suspected Oxycodone tablets. The male passenger was then placed under arrest and a further search of the vehicle was conducted. A backpack containing a quantity of methamphetamine was found inside the vehicle.

As a result, 47-year-old Randy KOSTUIK has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking

Possession of a Schedule I Substance

Assault with a Weapon

Fail to Comply with a Recognizance

He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 14, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
