Repeat Offender Added To Hall Of Shame After Incident In Clinton – LAYCOX

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 21-year-old from Bluewater was taken into custody and is now facing a number of driving and failure to comply charges following his arrest last week in Clinton.

On Thursday, January 5th, 2017 shortly after 6:00 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information that a wanted male was currently at an address located on Townsend Street in Clinton.

As officers arrived on Townsend Street police were informed the wanted male had just left the residence and was driving away in a Chevrolet Malibu. The investigating officer located the suspect vehicle on Townsend Street and watched as the vehicle sailed through a stop sign at the intersection of East Street. The officer attempted to stop the suspect vehicle however the driver failed to pull over. The driver continued his dangerous driving by failing to stop for two stop signs. Within a short distance the trailing officer was able to get ahead of the suspect vehicle and was able to put a halt to the chase near the intersection of High Street and Smith Street South. The driver was immediately arrested and taken into police custody.

21-year-old Joshua LAYCOX from Bluewater has been charged with the following offences:

Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer

Dangerous Driving

Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2) counts

He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 23, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
