(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 194 calls for service during the past week.
Domestic Disputes
Renfrew OPP officers responded to seven calls relating to domestic disputes during the previous seven days. As a result one male was charged with assault and choking. No other criminal offences occurred. Healthy relationships do not include threats, harassment, assaults, disregard to court orders or violence. If you are in a relationship and are experiencing any of these call 9-1-1, or seek help from someone you trust.
Stolen Vehicle
A silver 2009 Suzuki Swift was stolen from a driveway on Cobus Road in Horton Township. The vehicle was stolen on Friday March 13 at approx. 9pm. The vehicle has Ontario Lic. BNDB 755 on it. Detective Constable Hayley Chaplin is investigating.
Impaired Driver
One male is facing charges after police stopped on Highway 17 to investigate a vehicle running on the side of the Highway. On Wednesday March 11 at approx. 8:40pm officers stopped with a truck on the side of the Highway near Yonder Hill Trail in Whitewater Region. The male in the driver’s seat had been drinking. After failing a roadside alcohol screening test he was arrested and taken to the detachment for further breath tests. As a result Todd BANKS 43 of Whitewater Region was charged with care or control of a motor vehicle over 80mgs. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on April 15. Provincial Constable Bernie Dikih led the investigation.
Fraud
Officers are investigating after a report that someone has used the victims address to register a vehicle. The suspect lives in Ottawa and may be attempting to avoid an emissions test on a vehicle. The Ministry of Transportation and the OPP are investigating.
Theft
A wallet was lost in Renfrew on Sunday March 8. The contents of the wallet were found and turned in to the police, minus the victim’s cash, and several pieces of identification.
A flashing amber light magnetically mounted on the roof of a truck was stolen in Renfrew. The theft happened between March 5-10 on Obrien Road in Renfrew.
An assortment of tools was stolen from Canadian Tire in Arnprior on Thursday March 12. The theft was captured on video surveillance and the investigation is continuing. Provincial Constable Ken Rusaw is investigating.
A large red window blind was stolen from a hallway at an apartment complex on Hall Ave. in Renfrew on Saturday March 14. The item was left unattended for about ½ hour as the victim was moving. Provincial Constable Troy Dobbie is investigating.
A quantity of wiring was stolen from a construction site on Hall Ave in Renfrew. Sometime overnight on Saturday March 14 unknown persons entered the Mac’s Milk which is under renovations and stole the wire. The front door was smashed to gain entry. Provincial Constable Joel Cobb is investigating.

The Renfrew OPP would like to thank Victim Services of Renfrew County for all they do for victims of crimes and tragedies in our communities.
