Renfrew OPP Weekly News

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to 153 calls for service this past week.

Domestic Disputes/Assaults

Renfrew OPP officers responded to three domestic disputes and four family disputes during the past week. No charges were laid.

Impaired Drivers

In the past week the Renfrew OPP conducted five R.I.D.E checks resulting in no criminal charges. There were nine motor vehicle collisions.

On the 2nd of May 2015, police were dispatched to investigate a child alone on Highway 41 in Greater Madawaska Township. As a result of the investigation William O’BRIEN(30) of Ottawa has been charged with Impaired Operation, Failing/refusal to provide a breath sample, Resist Peace Officer, Assault Peace Officer, Mischief Under, Failing to Comply with his Probation and Abandoning a Child. He was held in police custody for a Show Cause hearing.

On the 30th of April 2015, police were dispatched to a traffic complainant on Hwy 17, a vehicle was stopped in relation to this traffic complaint on O’Brien Road in Renfrew. As a result of the investigation Robert DAGG (38) of Renfrew was charged with Impaired Operation and Driving with more than 80mgs of alcohol in blood and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in court on June 24th 2015.

In the past week police also arrested and charged in unrelated occurrences, Dale Stiles (53) of Ottawa for Theft Under and Failing to Comply with his Probation and Mathieu Vinette (24) of Renfrew for Failing to Attend Court. Both males were held for Show Cause hearings.
