Animal Complaints
Police responded with Officers from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to several reports of animals being left alone in hot vehicles in parking lots. Pet owners are reminded they should not be bringing animals out with them, only to lock them in a hot car while they go shopping. Temperatures inside vehicles rise very quickly and animals to not have the same ability as humans do to sweat and cool off. Criminal charges can be laid for causing unnecessary suffering. Leaving windows slightly open is not sufficient to cool the interior of a vehicle. Pet owners should leave their pets at home in the summer if they cannot supervise them.
