Renfrew OPP Weekly News

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 35 calls for service on Tuesday august 18, including animal complaints, family disputes and trespassing.

Male Charged Over 80mgs

OPP officers conducting RIDE spot checks dealt with one drinking driver on Tuesday. Officers were checking drivers on White Lake Road in McNab Braeside Township at approx. 8:30pm when a vehicle was stopped and the driver found to have been drinking. After failing a roadside alcohol screening test the male was arrested. Following further breath tests at the detachment James FISH 46 of McNab Braeside was charged with driving over 80mgs. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on September 23. Sergeant Derek McLeod investigated.

Trespass at Night

One male is being charged after a he was seen on the roof of Our Lady of Fatima Church at approx. 10pm. Noises were heard on the roof and OPP officers responded. The caller described the suspect who jumped down off the roof and ran away. The suspect was located a short time later and arrested. Tyler EADY 19 of Renfrew was charged with Trespassing at Night, a criminal code offence. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on September 16. Provincial Constable Kyle Mask investigated.

Stunt Driving Charge

Officers were conducting radar speed enforcement on White Lake Road in the Township of McNab Braeside after receiving several complaints of speeders in the area. At approx. 7:30pm a driver was stopped after driving at 132 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone. Christopher KAERBYE 47 of Arnprior was charged with Stunt driving – speeding in excess of 50 km above the posted speed limit. His driver’s licence was seized for seven days, and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released on a summons for court in Renfrew on September 18. Sergeant Derek McLeod investigated.

Luring Minor Over the Internet

OPP are investigating after a parent reported their 12 year old child was repeatedly contacted by an adult on a social media site. The adult wanted to date the child, even after learning of their age. There is a suspect Provincial Constable Rick Shikatani is investigating.

Dogs in Hot Car

Once again on one of the hottest days of the summer, Renfrew OPP officers responded to a report of a vehicle in a parking lot in Renfrew with two dogs in it. The licence plate was obtained by the complainant and the OPP are continuing to investigate as the vehicle was gone when the officer arrived. Pet owners are encouraged to leave their pets at home when out shopping in the summer as the temperature inside a vehicle is significantly hotter than outside, even when windows are left open an inch or two. If you see a pet in a hot car, call the SPCA at 310-SPCA (7722).

Male Charged with Sexual Assault

One male is facing charges after a female reported to the OPP a male had kissed and touched her sexually on several occasions. The victim reported the male also attended her residence after being told to stay away and he was watching her home. Following an investigation Earl McNULTY 55 of Renfrew was arrested and charged with sexual assault, criminal harassment, and being unlawfully in a dwelling. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. Provincial Constable Kevin Rebertz led the investigation.

Domestic Dispute

Police investigated one domestic dispute on August 18. No criminal offences occurred so no charges were laid.
