(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 27 calls for service on Wednesday August 19, including animal complaints, family disputes and a break and enter.
Break and Enter
A residence on Fourth Avenue in Arnprior was entered sometime between Saturday and Wednesday. While the homeowner was away someone entered through an unlocked door and stole several bottles of alcohol. Provincial Constable Ken Rusaw is investigating.
Drug Charge
One male is facing charges after officers stopped a vehicle and a quantity of cocaine was located inside. Officers stopped the vehicle on Raglan Street S at approx. 10:50pm. John LETHIE 58 of Eganville was charged with possession of cocaine. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on September 16. Detective Constable Paul Hicks investigated.
Mischief
Sometime overnight on August 18 someone gained access to the roof of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) branch in Renfrew and spray painted the building. The graffiti was on the side of the building facing Raglan Street S. Anyone with information is asked to call the OPP at 613-432-3211.
Dog in Hot Car
On Wednesday August 19 at 11:44 am OPP officers responded to a report of a dog in a hot car in the parking lot on Raglan Street S between the Giant Tiger and Renfrew Legion. The temperature outside was 29 at the time. The female driver left prior to the police arriving, but a Quebec licence plate was obtained and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) will be following up. Pet owners are advised they can face charges if the leave animals in hot vehicles if the animal is in distress.
