(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 25 calls for service on Tuesday August 26 including a break and enter, arrest warrant and several collisions.
Break and Enter
A home on Highway 17 in Whitewater Region Township was broken into during the daytime Tuesday. A side door was forced open and jewelry was stolen. The break in happened between 12:30 pm and 5:15 pm. Provincial Constable Carlvin Burgins is investigating.
Arrest Warrant
Members of the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) squad and Renfrew OPP detachment members assisted with an arrest warrant in Renfrew. Information was received that a male living at an address in Renfrew was wanted by Edmonton Police Service for 33 counts of fraud. The information was confirmed and the 25-year-old male was arrested on Veterans Memorial Blvd at 11:06 am. He was remanded into custody pending his return to Edmonton to face the charges.
The ROPE squad is a multi agency provincial team who are located throughout Ontario. They assist in locating and apprehending individuals who are wanted for various parole violations, escapees or dangerous offenders.
Theft
Police are investigating after a theft of gas at Country View Mini Mart on Calabogie Road in McNab Braeside Township. At approx. 9:40 am a male driving a silver 4 door car pumped his gas then quickly drove away. A licence plate number was obtained and the investigation is continuing by Provincial Constable Darin Chaplin.
Two licence plates were stolen from a vehicle while parked on Argyle St S in Renfrew. The theft happened on Tuesday August 25 between 9-11:30 am. Provincial Constable Marc Bennett is investigating.
