(RENFREW, ON) ā The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 195 calls for service during the previous week, including animal complaints, family disputes, thefts and domestic disputes.
Domestic Disputes
Renfrew OPP officers responded to 11 reported domestic disputes during the past week. One male was charged with 4 counts of domestic mischief, 2 counts of assault, 2 counts of assault with a weapon, overcoming resistance by choking and uttering a threat. One male was charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm. No other criminal offences occurred.
Break, Enter and Theft
Two recent break ins were solved and no charges will be laid. A vacant home on Grant Road in the Township of Greater Madawaska was discovered broken into on Tuesday October 13. A second home nearby on Inglis Road was also broken into. Nothing was stolen from the first home, a bicycle, CD player and kitchen items were stolen from the second. A female suspect was spoken to and admitting breaking in and using the bicycle. The victims declined to pursue criminal charges.
On Saturday October 17 at 3:05 am the alarm at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar on Daniel Street in Arnprior sounded. Officers arrived and found the door had been pried open and cigarettes and candy stolen. Photographs of the three male suspects have been obtained and Provincial Constable Jodi Burns is investigating.
A home on Allan Drive in Arnprior was entered sometime on Saturday October 17. Someone entered the home through an unlocked side door. Provincial Constable Joel Cobb is investigating.
Thefts
A quantity of gas was stolen from MacEwens Gas Bar on Raglan Street in Renfrew on Saturday October 10 at 12:20pm. The male driver pumped a quantity of gas into a beige coloured Chevrolet Avalanche pick-up truck. A female passenger was in the vehicle. The licence plate on the rear of the vehicle was upside down. Provincial Constable Chris Triemstra is investigating.
Gasoline was also stolen on Wednesday October 14 from No Frills Gas Bar in Renfrew. Provincial Constable Tony Gardiner is investigating after a male driving a blue Toyota car drove off after putting fuel into the car. The licence plate number was obtained and the investigation is continuing.
Provincial Constable Tina Hunt is investigating after a power of attorney reported they believed someone had been stealing money from an individual in Renfrew. The suspect attended a bank and removed a sum of money on several occasions. The investigation is continuing.
