Domestic Disputes
Renfrew and Arnprior OPP officers responded to seven domestic disputes during the past week. No charges were laid, and one investigation is continuing. Fraud
Two victims reported financial losses due to frauds during the past week. One victim reported receiving a phone call from someone claiming her son required money to pay medical bills after her son was supposedly involved in a collision. The victim sent a quantity of money through a money transfer company. A second victim reported providing their credit card information to someone on the phone after a computer virus appeared to have infected their computer and the person was going to fix it. People are reminded to never provide personal or financial details, including credit card information to someone who has called you. Also if someone claims a family member is in a hospital or jail and needs you to send money, make some phone calls yourself to determine if the information is legitimate.
